Born last October, DJ Katta has since been hungrily roaming Cyprus’s queer underground, serving up hot, high-energy beats (and looks). Hard but melodic, fast but affecting, her sets are marked by a feral spirit and an appetite to move and arouse, taking an experimental—and feminist—approach to selecting and mixing. Spotlighting the work of cutting-edge queer producers from across the globe, Katta will take you from hardcore to trance, techno, breakbeat, electro, “latin club,” and a hint (or two, or three) of pop. She has performed in museums, warehouses, and forests, at parties and raves organised by Honest Electronics, Sesssssions, and Queer Collective CY, among others. She is the alter ego of Androula, a musician and curator based in Nicosia who is also, along with dj harama and Sayia Navva, one-third of ALYSIDEZ, a DJ trio hosting a monthly show on Barking Cats Radio and making the occasional explosive live appearance.
