Let’s make music with boomwhackers, buckets and… more!
This workshop invites adults, teenagers and children, aged 8 - 88, to participate in a hands-on experience with alternative musical instruments. Participants will learn how to use colorful musical tubes known as 'boowhackers', and will use them together with buckets to perform popular melodies. They will also have the opportunity to create their own, short, group compositions experimenting with a variety of sound sources. Participants are not expected to have any musical skills.
The workshop will be lead by four music educators from “Mousika Dromena”, a specialized Early Childhood Music Education Center offering music classes for children aged 10 months to 7 years, in Nicosia: Natassa Economidou Stavrou, Christiana Rousou, Eleutheria Dani and Eleni Andreou. For a year now, Mousika Dromena has also created and led the first alternative primary school children orchestra, “The Boom-makers”, making music with boomwhackers, buckets, plastic plates, cups and spoons.
