Urban Folk Singing - From Dalgas to Kazantidis
What possible relationship could Antonis Diamantidis-Dalgas and Stelios Kazantzidis have, two brilliant figures of Greek Folk Singing heritage, that marked the Greek Folk music of the 20th century, with their performances and compositions? Based on these two fundamental figures we will work on the style, the flourishes and the singing idioms, through listening, discussion and the performance of songs, in an attempt to understand and trace the path and the different periods of Greek Folk urban singing.
This workshop is addressed to singers that have a previous experience with Greek Folk singing and to professional singers.

Λαϊκό Αστικό Τραγούδι - Από τον Νταλγκά στον Καζαντζίδη
Τι σχέση μπορεί να έχει ο Αντώνης Διαμαντίδης - Νταλγκάς με το Στέλιο Καζαντζίδη, δύο λαμπρές μορφές του ελληνικού λαϊκού τραγουδιού που σημάδεψαν με τις ερμηνείες και τις συνθέσεις τους την ελληνική λαϊκή μουσική του 20ου αιώνα. Βασιζόμενοι στους δύο αυτούς πυλώνες θα ασχοληθούμε με το ύφος, τα ποικίλματα και τα τραγουδιστικά ιδιώματα, μέσα από την ακρόαση, το σχολιασμό και την ερμηνεία τραγουδιών, σε μια προσπάθεια να κατανοήσουμε την πορεία και τις περιόδους του ελληνικού λαϊκού αστικού τραγουδιού.
Το εργαστήρι απευθύνεται σε τραγουδιστές που έχουν ήδη κάποια σχέση με το ελληνικό λαϊκό τραγούδι και σε επαγγελματίες τραγουδιστές.
Bio:
Dionysiou started learning various instruments and Byzantine music at a young age, later studying at the University of Macedonia and at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, specialising in Chanting. Originally from Cyprus, Dionysiou is currently based in Thessaloniki and has collaborated with various ensembles including Gia.Gia.Ko, Iliodromio, Vasilis Petrides amongst others. He also performs in musical theatre productions by Sofia Spyratou and has participated on a number of recordings.
