Fantastic Negrito is a man’s truth told in the form of black roots music. Each song is a real story about a musician from Oakland who experienced the highs of a million dollar record deal, the lows of a near-fatal car accident that put him in a four-week coma, and is now in the phase of rebirth despite his playing hand being mangled. While his rebirth began on the streets of Oakland a couple years ago, he arrived on the national stage in 2015 when he won the NPR Tiny Desk Contest and watched his self-titled EP ascend to #1 in Blues in the US, UK, Germany and Asia. He followed that up in 2016 with tours throughout Europe and North America with Chris Cornell, and legendary Seattle supergroup Temple of the Dog; and the release of his debut full-length album The Last Days of Oakland, which went on to win Best Contemporary Blues Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

Quirky Greek artist Marina Satti has put together an incredible selection of female voices and a percussionist in an 8-part accapella choir that has been loved by the audience and will be visiting Cyprus for the first time. The choir puts together a “World party”, incorporating elements from Africa, Latin America, Japan, Bulgaria, Greece and the pop/jazz repertoire, creating a wild atmosphere, inviting sing-alongs and of course, dance!

The internationally acclaimed Tuareg guitarist and singer-songwriter from Agadez, Niger, has just released a new album with which he's pioneering a new style that he affectionately calls ‘Tuareggae’ – a sunny blend of Tuareg blues/rock with reggae one-drop and bounce. Also featuring the first-ever use of Western vocal harmonies in recorded Tuareg music, (due to artist David Longstreth’s influence), his latest songs are given new depth and color. With all of the above, and a band behind him that is tighter and more energetic than ever before, he is currently touring and presenting his best, most well-rounded, and groundbreaking album to date: Azel.

The psychedelic/stoner rock band from Ioannina City (Greece), play their own rendition of  post-rock with very a big dose of greek-folk traditional music from Epirus. Having been called a "phenomenon" and "the future of traditional, greek music" after the release of their debut album Riza,  and their second EP Zvara/Karakolia, they have moulded  a sound so mysteriously appealing, that has drawn crowds from all over the world, ranging from stoner-rock headbangers to the fans of Thanassis Papakonstantinou and the greek "entechno" scene. 

The Cretan lutist and vocalist Υiorgis Xylouris meets Australian Dirty Three, post-punk drummer Jim White, in a duet that works outside of their respective comfort zones, transcending geographical boundaries to the point where it’s tricky to know where they’re coming from. The fusion of Cretan influences with pounding rock riffs, a powerful baritone voice and a multi-faceted, and sensitive drummer with the perfect mix of ferocity and finesse, forms the unworldly and highly-acclaimed  Xylouris White, currently touring for their second album, Black Peak. 

It has only been a few months that this act from Greece and Cyprus has had an active presence on stage, but they have already managed to impress audiences by pushing the boundaries of Greek alternative music, dipping the genre into unexplored territories as its makers combine first-class performances. Their heartfelt lyricism and their rejuvenating, superintendet experimentation with sound has led to the 10 songs of their freshly released, self-titled debut album. Their sonic world consists of rock, punk, and psychedelic elements, influenced by Greek tradition and African beats. SOTIRES consist of Fotis Siotas (violin, vocals), Lefteris Moumtzis (bass), Kostas Panteli (guitar) and Vasilis Bacharidis (drums).

A young trio from Nicosia whose updating of Greek-Cypriot folk styles has brought them an international following. Having already released two albums that mix traditional themes with new songs, politics, unexpected arrangements, slick musicianship and a welcome sense of fun, their live shows are a presentation of the above in a swelling surge of energy. Their latest incorporation of stomp boxes in their existing line up of tzouras, guitar and trombone, has given them an even more exciting boost to their elegant but quirky melodies. 

Maria Spivak’s music can be described as synth pop lines in a backdrop of ambience, creating a vessel for her dance rhythms and extended velvety melodies to expand. Using both her analogue and digital synthesisers, she has presented live sets and installations in Cyprus, Greece and Germany, while she’s currently in the process of preparing her first EP.  

Theo Cale & The Smokestack Band is a three piece Blues & Rock band based in Brighton, UK.  With singer-songwriter Theo as the frontman and guitarist, Apollo on the bass and Alfie on drums, their powerful performance will stick in your head and shake your soul.

Cypriot-American Composer/Bassist Alexi David grew up in Park Slope, Brooklyn. His group "Alexi David's PATRIOT ACT" has created the first fusion of Jazz with the Rembetika music of Greece. Also adept on Bouzouki, Baglama, and Piano, he is a scholar on the music of Charles Mingus and has worked extensively with The Fat Cat Big Band, Terry Waldo, Jose James, Junior Mance and many others. At Fengaros he will be presenting his composition along with Cypriot and Greek musicians.

Gustav Le Bon is the sonic persona of Yiannis Chrysouliotis.  You'll see him create stories by selecting and putting together vinyl to create musical stories that break the boundaries of genres, a true enforcer of the undeground music scene in Cyprus.

The fun and quirky double-bassist, Dimitris Baslam, along with Anthi Kyrkou and Athinodoros Karkafiris morph into modern Aesops, singing songs and reciting tales from the legendary Gargalistis, the jolly Agisilagos, the subversive Αnrgy Cement Mixer, the watchful little bee Sophia and many more! It’s a show for children, mothers, fathers, godfathers, aunties, cousins, grandfathers, and grandmothers!

A voice that sounds vaguely familiar, as it morphs from the tone of his father Socrates, to his own powerful and youthful belting. In a “Triolet” with bass, percussion, mini keyboard, guitar-tzouras and drums consonants and vowels, Petros Malamas along with the multi-talented Nikos Papaioannou and Thanos Kazantzis, sing acoustic songs from his life in the theatre, rare tragedies from the theatre of life, migratory and delicate love songs. 

Ouzo Bazooka represents everything that is beautiful in Tel Aviv; Cultural coexistence, vigorous creation and an always happening urban scene. Drawing influences from this local melting pot and exotic Mediterranean feel, along with classic hard rock, psychedelic art, garage rock and surf – Ouzo Bazooka’s sound is a dizzying concoction of east meets west. Their energetic performances promise to send Hell’s Angels dancing on table-tops, breaking plates, shouting 'Yiasou!' in multiple accents, grinning stupidly and ending up on the floor in a group-hug pile-up! 

Hailing from the most exotic area in Cyprus, Paphos, long-time musician Natalie Adamos steps out as a solo artist for the first time with an ethereal debut album soon to be released. Her uniquely deep voice provides the foreground in a soundscape provided by synthesizers, drum machines and guitars, where spread-out vocal melodies meet with electronica beats in a soft melting pot. Joining her on stage are Maria Tombazou (voice, synth, bass), George Kelis (electric guitar) and George Kolias (acoustic guitar).

Delirium Elephants, a band whose name comes from a hallucinogenic experiment, is sensible to experiment. Wind instruments, grooves, atmospheric guitars, keyboards and smooth vocals like a good whiskey are included in their new album title!

Professional storyteller Marina Katsari, along with musicians Vaggelis Gettos (GR), Dav Faure Bracthe (FR) and Christine Giraud (FR) take us on a storytelling trip to Ireland, home country of the tales of elves, ghosts and other little demons. Through the traditional fairies and magic sounds of this mystic land, the stories of elves sound familiar to the stories of humans. Sometimes jealous, sometimes generous. Sometimes they dance, play music and spread their joy to earth and sometimes they complot and put traps! 

Isel is a moniker of Yiannis Eliades. 

Yiannis performs using synthesizers, drum machines and twisted gathered field recordings trying to create story-telling environments. His ambient soundscapes end up with some environments end up having more colours than others.

She doesn't claim to be a Dj, but an eclectic music selector. From a very young age Marianna  has been fascinated by music and has developed a deep connection to rock culture. Almost unwillingly, she started djing in recent years "by accident" as she claims. By accident or not, her rock oriented sets are described by eclecticism and a high aesthetic. Expect to hear a blend of some seriously cool Psych-Electro Rock, Post Punk, Synth-Pop selections.

Sofronis will present a set from selections and personal edits that reflect the musical tendencies over the last few years. He will give special attention in mixing rhythms from various types of music: from rap to world and from drum beats to experimental rock. The main aim is to produce a dance-able musical result, in order to close the last day of the festival on a high!

Inspired by the beauty and spirit of their Rock-blues and Balinese Gamelan music influences the Lp3 trio performs original material with a modern sound aesthetic and Jazz improvisational freedom in mind.

Born and raised in Limassol, Cyprus, Michael Koullas is a songwriter with a different approach in his craft. Dubbing his style as ‘Honest Music’, an amalgamation of different music genres that include deep guitar soundscapes, cool rhythms, catchy melodies and story-like lyrics; Michael’s songs strive to express aspects of everyday life, providing stories of human experiences, such as love, everyday struggles, existential issues, and hope.

When the South-London trio first burst into the public conscience with debut single “It’s on You”, their spirited take on US college rock was a big surprise as it was instant hit. The resulting full-length Weird Little Birthday, went on to feature in many End of Year album lists. Worldwide tours, an NME Award, a re-issue on the much-loved labels Moshi Moshi Recordings (Bar/None in US), and millions of Spotify plays later, it is with some anticipation that the band release their new single “Through Windows” from their 2nd album “Write In”. Their delicate, lazy vocals, soft rhythm section and whoozy guitars give them an unapologetic heartful sound which drives the audience along a sweet path. 

ACID BABY JESUS formed in Athens, Greece in 2009. They quickly honed a heavy psychedelic rock’n’roll sound influenced equally by the Western World’s lysergic pop past and Greece’s complex folk history.

Big Demon Faceplant is a music project that explores moody sounds and lonely drum beats, using samplers, synthesizers and effects.Sometimes it gets loud and nasty and some other times it falls into a massive cosy pillow of sound.

A young and talented multi-instrumentalist from Cyprus, he has formed his fresh sound through his various travels with orchestra’s as a percussionist, as well as his knowledge of over 20 different instruments! Eager to present his first EP titled “ἄρχω”, his optimistic and lively musicality is not to be missed.

Pliri Ntaksi troupe from Thessaloniki will perform this summer at Festival Fengaros their music performance "Pliri Ntaxi - Le rebétiko aujourd’hui " which combines songs from their discographic and other old rebétiko songs.

It’s the, now very well known and loved from the Cypriot music fans, duet of Fotis Siotas (violin, viola, synth, voice) and Kostas Pantelis (guitars). They compose and perform music based on two instruments and two loop stations synced manually, producing a very unique musical result, which has established them as pioneers in the style of synthesis using the live looping technique. 

Since their formation in 2008, BAiLdSA have been responsible for many a wild night, good vibes and enthusiastic Balcan trips. After the release of their three Their uncontrollable energy has been fuming audiences in every performance, where they combine elements, influences and sounds all joined together in a solid, highly entertaining set. Elements, influences and sounds, not lined up in a row, but assembled one by one and all joined together, create an enthusiastic and very entertaining music.

This spacey music collective from Athens, Greece, has already caused quite a sensation in the online music press and digital community, after the release of their first two EPs during 2015. Having just released their long-awaited debut eponymous LP in February 2017, they have provided further proof that they are a musical outfit that can leave its mark in the neo-psychedelic scene. With motorik drum beats, hypnotic vocalizations and repeating guitars, Holy Monitor create an atmospheric space ambience, guiding their audience to a shimmering sonic swirl of metronomic swings. 

Datfunk BAND redefines the concept of a classic organ trio, creating a wild, brilliant fusion of soul, funk and afro beats. A band that effortlessly blends music elements while keeping high on the tempo. Playing original music as well as re-arrangements, they always leave room for improvisations and make sure to give grooves that don’t quit. They have been a house band in several venues in Athens, while they toured around Greece and participated in festivals in Europe. Currently, they perform in Athen's most important jazz club,"Afrikana", playing there every Friday. Their album "Steppin' up", in collaboration with saxophonist Reine Witzel, was released on October 2016.

616 once saw someone else using the phrase ''eclectic to electric'' and thought ''well , i should borrow that , afterall that's what i do'' . At Fengaros he will carry a record box full of music of different genres and countries of origin . At the spot , he will play "Rock–paper–scissors" by himself to determine the sequence .

Paolo Angeli is a virtuoso player of the prepared Sardinian guitar (an instrument he has developed over the past 20 years). Combining the unique sound of this one-of-a-kind musical vehicle with an impressive dexterity and collaborations with musicians such as Pat Metheny, Hamid Drake, Evan Parker and Fred Frith, he has developed an ever-increasing catalog of music.

Alex Macris is a musician from Nicosia.  Engaged in a journey exploring the origins of contemporary popular music, he will be sharing excerpts of his search in an instrumental set of acoustic country blues and ragtime guitar.

Kid Flicks is the experimental pop project of producer and songwriter Nikos Dervisis, who’s been actively performing under the alias since 2011. Accompanied by the drummer Danae Palaka, his live performances are characterised by a dancing atmosphere where a clever use of vocals and guitars mingles with live electronics and samples.

This up-and-coming alternative rock band from Cyprus has managed to catch the eye of music fanatics with rave reviews from as far as the USA as soon as their beautiful debut album Million released in November 2016. Their captivating melodies, powerful sound, aetherial lyrics and atmospheric vibe, have definitely earned them a seat on the alternative music scene. 

Dave de Rose will be attending the  week before the festival Fengaros Music Village as Resident Artist, spending the first few days in all the workshops as well as getting heavily involved in the running of each evening's jam sessions. During the initial days of the Music Village he will be selecting a few students from each workshop to create an ensemble, which will perform on the first day of Fengaros Festival. The group will rehearse to present a final production that showcases the many aspects of their learning at the village. The ensemble will be collaborating on every aspect of the final performance, including scheduling rehearsals and managing all aspects of their preparation, from stage presentation to sound, as well as musical direction and arrangements.

MouseFace is a Nicosia based music selector. His sound ranges from psychedelic rock, spiritual jazz, african drums, soul to modern folk, blues, pop and electronic music.

Cypriot born Lebanese/Palestinian, and former “Isaac’s Cello” member Zeyn Mroueh, takes the leap into solo work and mixes maturity and knowledge with raw, ardent youthfulness in his assimilation of Post Rock, Lo Fi, Drone and Noise. Ηis debut album Pictures of a Floating World (2017) is a clear testament to his background in Psychedelic Rock as he builds disconcerting walls of sound, altering drones with melancholy and the outstanding, delicate sound of clean guitar. An artist who is at once experimental and deliberate, he seamlessly blends dissenting voices and robotic vibrations with mellifluous reverbs, always providing a wholesome experience rather than a performance.

Inspired by the rural festivities of the Greek 70's and folk music,  the Jan Van orchestra combines clarinet and bass guitar with African rhythms, tabor and Farfisa with psychedelic styles and rock'n'roll.  Their solid rhythm section filters and overloads grooves from afro-beat to funk alongside the Greek traditional dances! 

A songwriter from Kuwait who writes colorful music inspired by the majesty of nature, the mysteries of mythology and the enormity of space. He seamlessly weaves together elements of jazz, arabic music, and percussive guitar playing, with songs in both English and Arabic, creating a soundscape that sounds freshly innovative but familiar at the same time. His lushly orchestrated debut album “Visions” was released in December 2016.
