Selas is a contemporary dance and performance group founded in 2005, dedicated to expanding movement as an embodied language and creating dialogues with other art forms. Their work explores the deep relationship between sound, space, and the human body, highlighting the diversity and hybridity of contemporary culture. In The River of Lethe, Selas delves into the fluid boundary between memory and oblivion. Here, Lethe is not an absence but a thick substance where gestures, voices, and histories dissolve. The music merges electronic textures, trombone, and theremin, moving from dark drones to rhythmic surges and culminating in a meditative, almost ritualistic chorale. Through this interplay of sound and movement, the performance constructs a multisensory landscape, a living body suspended in time, where intensity and stillness coexist.
