Rhythm section: Ways to function, Ways to support the music
The rhythm section is the base and at the core of every modern group. It starts with the drums and the bass, but also includes every accompanying instrument, when it has an accompanying function. Practically, the rhythm section may also include percussion, guitar and keyboards. Through this workshop we will venture to understand and communicate the ways of functioning within a wide range of musical styles. We will work with exercises aimed at developing better cooperation between the members of the rhythm section, always taking into consideration the particularities of the participants, the personal musical direction of each one, but also with the aim to explore and develop all of the above. All this, of course, will happen through playing and without forgetting that our goal is to take pleasure, to create and discover ourselves.
This workshop is interested in all the instruments mentioned above.

Το rhythm section είναι η βάση και η ραχοκοκαλιά κάθε μοντέρνου γκρουπ. Ξεκινάει με τα τύμπανα και το μπάσο, αλλά περιλαμβάνει κάθε όργανο όταν αυτό λειτουργεί συνοδευτικά. Πρακτικά, λοιπόν, στο rhythm section μπορούν να συμπεριληφθούν τα κρουστά, η κιθάρα και τα πλήκτρα. Μέσω αυτού του εργαστηρίου θα ασχοληθούμε με την κατανόηση, την επικοινωνία και τους τρόπους λειτουργίας μέσα σε ένα ευρύ πεδίο ιδιωμάτων (μουσικών στυλ). Θα καταπιαστούμε με ασκήσεις που στοχεύουν στην ανάπτυξη καλύτερης συνεργασίας μεταξύ των μελών του rhythm section, λαμβάνοντας πάντα υπόψιν τις ιδιαιτερότητες των συμμετεχόντων, την προσωπική μουσική κατεύθυνση του καθενός, αλλά και με στόχο την διεύρυνση και εξέλιξη των παραπάνω. Όλα αυτά φυσικά, παίζοντας μουσική και μην ξεχνώντας ότι ο ανώτερος στόχος όλων είναι μέσα από τη μουσική να διασκεδάσουμε, να δημιουργήσουμε και να ανακαλύψουμε τον εαυτό μας.
Το εργαστήρι απευθύνεται σε όλα τα όργανα που αναφέρονται παραπάνω.
Bio:
Upon completing his studies in drums and percussion, Kapilidis began touring and performing for some of Greece’s most popular musicians including Alkinoos Ioannides, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Anna Vissi, Alkistis Protopsalti and Eleonora Zouganeli. He has been a member of various jazz, blues and rock groups in Thessaloniki such as Hopla Loon, Haemus, Extended Funk Family amongst others and has released numerous records both solo and with various bands.
