Giannis Koutis was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, in 1985. In Athens he studied Oud, Byzantine Music, Classical Guitar (GR & ABRSM), and Epirus Polyphonic Singing. In 2016, he completed his Master studies (Master on Music - Ottoman Music/Oud Performance) at Codarts Conservatory for the Arts in Rotterdam.

He has participated in concerts and festivals of international scale (Hong Kong, Qatar, Uzbekistan, Las Palmas, Spain, Venice, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Switzerland, Paris, Sweden, Algeria, Istanbul, Ankara, Greece, Cyprus, etc.), both as a soloist and in collaboration with ensembles, presenting—among other—his own compositions. He has collaborated with world-renowned musicians such as Kudsi Erguner (UNESCO Artist for Peace), Ross Daly, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Alkinoos Ioannidis ect.

He has composed music for film and theatre. He is also the author of the book “The Musical Instruments of the Eastern Mediterranean” (2023 | Kentriki Insurance Cyprus). Parallel, he maintains a long-standing, continuous research activity in the field of unpublished Byzantine monastic musical manuscripts.

Ο Γιάννης Κουτής γεννήθηκε στην Λευκωσία της Κύπρου το 1985. Στην Αθήνα σπούδασε Ούτι, Βυζαντινή Μουσική, Κλασσική Κιθάρα (GR & ABRSM) και Ηπειρώτικο Πολυφωνικό Τραγούδι. Το 2016 ολοκλήρωσε τις μεταπτυχιακές του σπουδές (Master on Music - Ottoman Music/Oud Performance) στο Codarts Conservatory for the Arts of Rotterdam.

Έχει συμμετάσχει σε συναυλίες και φεστιβάλ παγκόσμιας εμβέλειας (Hong Kong, Qatar, Uzbekistan, Las Palmas, Spain, Venice, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Switzerland, Paris, Sweden, Algeria, Istanbul, Ankara, Greece, Cyprus etc.), τόσο ως σολίστας όσο και σε συνεργασία με σύνολα παρουσιάζοντας μεταξύ άλλων και τις προσωπικές του συνθέσεις. Έχει συνεργαστεί με παγκοσμίου φήμης μουσικούς όπως ο Kudsi Erguner (UNESCO Artist for Peace), Ross Daly, Omar Farouk Tekbilek, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Αλκίνοος Ιωαννίδης κ.α.

Έχει συνθέσει Μουσική για Κινηματογράφο & Θέατρο. Έχει συγγράψει το Λεύκωμα «Τα Μουσικά Όργανα της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου» (2023 | Εκδόσεις Κεντρικής Ασφαλιστικής Κύπρου). Παράλληλα διατηρεί μια μακρά, συνεχή έρευνα στον τομέα ανέκδοτων Βυζαντινών Μοναστηριακών μουσικών χειρογράφων.

30+ hours registrations will include a 50% discount for one non-transferable three-day ticket to Fengaros Festival 2026
