Music for the Moving Image
The music that accompanies a movie, an advertisement or a video game has a huge part in the communication of the desired feelings to the viewer. Every image has the need to be overlayed with its own unique piece of music or even silence. In this workshop the process of developing a soundtrack from the script writing up to its commercial release, will be discussed. How does the composer collaborate with the director? How does the conception and composition happen? How do you produce, mix and synchronise the music? How can music be combined to blend in with the sound effects? Through the analysis of specific movies and advertisements there will be an attempt to explain the different techniques of compositions and soundtracks. The students will have the chance to apply what they are taught by composing music for small extracts from documentaries and advertisements, which will be screened at the final presentation of the workshop.
This workshop is addressed to professional and amateur composers and musicians. The students are required to bring laptops with a music software such as Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools etc.

Μουσική για την κινούμενη εικόνα
Η μουσική που συνοδεύει μια ταινία, μια διαφήμιση ή ένα βιντεοπαιχνίδι, παίζει πολύ σημαντικό ρόλο στο να διαπεραστούν τα επιθυμητά συναισθήματα στο θεατή. H κάθε εικόνα έχει την ανάγκη να ντυθεί με τη δική της ξεχωριστή μουσική ή και τη σιωπή. Στο εργαστήρι θα συζητηθεί η διαδικασία της μουσικής επένδυσης, από τη συγγραφή του σεναρίου μέχρι την εμπορική προβολή. Πώς συνεργάζεται ο συνθέτης με το σκηνοθέτη, πώς γίνεται η σύλληψη και η σύνθεση, πώς γίνεται η παραγωγή, η μίξη και ο συγχρονισμός, πώς η μουσική συνδυάζεται με τα ηχητικά εφέ; Μέσω της ανάλυσης επιλεγμένων ταινιών και διαφημίσεων θα γίνει μια προσπάθεια για επεξήγηση των διαφόρων τεχνικών σύνθεσης και μουσικής επένδυσης. Οι σπουδαστές θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να εφαρμόσουν όσα θα διδάσκονται συνθέτοντας μουσική για μικρά αποσπάσματα από ντοκιμαντέρ και διαφημίσεις, τα οποία θα προβληθούν στην τελική παρουσίαση του εργαστηρίου.
Το εργαστήρι απευθύνεται σε επαγγελματίες και ερασιτέχνες συνθέτες και οργανοπαίχτες. Οι σπουδαστές θα πρέπει να έχουν μαζί τους laptop με πρόγραμμα σύνθεσης όπως Logic, Cubase Pro Tools κτλ.
Bio:
Takoushis is a London-based film and television composer who has written music for multiple programmes from Channel 4, BBC and ITV as well as the adrenaline-fuelled score for EA’s award-winning “Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit”. Takoushis has also worked with many noteworthy industry professionals including EMMY nominated composer Charlie Mole, BAFTA and EMMY winner Brian Percival. He is credited with additional arrangements for Universal Pictures’ “Dad’s Army” and has also written scores for numerous films including “Balik” which received the ‘Best Music Award’ at the 5th Malatya Film Festival.
