THRAX PUNKS (GR)
Thursday, August 1st / Fengaros 2019
How could the traditional Thrace carols ever be related to punk? It all started with this question in mind when George Stavridis (davul, Thracian lyre, vocals) and Vaitsis Charakopidis (bagpipe/gaida, caval, zurna, vocals) decided in 2008 that they would get together and start playing in weddings, fairs, streets and various gatherings. Influenced by many styles of music with the Greek underground punk scene being the common denominator of their relationship back then, they continued to adopt several elements on their music. In the autumn of 2015 they met Panos Gkinis (guitar) during a jamming concert, who later joined the band. After having played together shows around Greece, they decided to record their first live demo album called MANKONANHTYPOWYHEDEAEIA" (punk mixed with fete Thracian party music and psychedelic music). This period they are recording their first full album. Mixing ingredients of music and cultures from around the world, there is no word or particular music genre that can describe their sound. With the use of bagpipes, tabors, Tyres or anything else they may stumble upon they smash every scruple and lead to a germinal feast.
