The electric guitar is one of the most famous musical instruments of the past century. Even though its construction as an instrument includes many musical restrictions, it gives us at the same time the sounds and music we all love. What are these restrictions and how can we overcome them in order to use them to our advantage? Listening to 50 different guitarists, you simultaneously listen to 50 different ways of playing the guitar. 

This workshop’s goal is for the students to explore and discover their own unique way of playing. Together we will explore hand movement, the visual aspect (playing horizontally, vertically, diagonally), listening practice, solfege (Learning to LISTEN what you see, and to SEE what you listen). Moreover the participants will explore traditional and contemporary techniques (sound - using the fingers productively and using amplifier/effects and pedals) and they will indulge in melodic and harmonic vocabulary and will deal with the rhythm, time and improvisation. Additionally, through the workshop we will discover a wide range of musical styles and we will deal with the creative practice of all the techniques mentioned above.
